Unreleased Ghosts n Goblins themed game
A downloadable project
This was my attempt to make a game based on Ghosts n Goblins in AGD around 2018. The game went through various name changes, from Ghosts n Ghouls n Gremlins n Goblins, to Knights n Knasties (which i really liked). I had finished level 1, complete with a boss from Ghouls n Ghosts, when I realised that remaking the multi-directional scrolling level 2 as a split screen level would be almost impossible, so I gave up remaking Ghosts n Goblins, and created an extended version of level one that included a town, sewers, and other areas. But I ran out of memory, and ended up scrapping the entire thing. I then decided to make my own game, namely Savage Princess. I eventually reused part of the town in Savage Princess 2, as I enjoyed wandering around it.
These save files are loaded into Jonathan Cauldwell's brilliant game engine AGD, so you can have a peek at my code, graphics and everything else. There are some game mechanics that I never used but may reuse at a later point, such as the leaping mimic chests and the enemy mobs dropping tombstones that can be used to reach inaccessible areas.
As the files are WIP, they are VERY broken, almost unplayable in parts, but they are in AGD so it's possible to change the starting position on the map by choosing the map option, selecting a screen to start on and pressing X to choose it, then leaving, and starting the game, this way you can jump to and explore inaccessible areas.
There are bits missing, such as the code for the Venus Fire Plant that was evident in demos that I uploaded to Youtube, and I can't find the saves containing those parts, but I'll upload saves if and when I find them.
You will require a ZX Spectrum emulator to view these files, my favourites being ZXSPIN and Fuse, both of which are free and easy to find online.
